|Government|Established 2018Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College (RKGMC), Hamirpur is a premier co-educational public medical college, commissioned in the year 2018, in line with the drive of state-level transformation and up-gradation of public health infrastructure by Government of Himachal Pradesh in association with Government of India. The college has been named in the revered memory of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice-President and second President of India, and was established as a up-gradation of the existing Regional Hospital in Hamirpur. The institution is fully accredited by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and is dynamically affiliated to Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU), Mandi.
The institution admits an annual cohort of 120 seats each into its flagship undergraduate residency course (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)) and varied post graduate (MD/MS) medical disciplines, in the admission rounds based on merit scoring within national NEET-UG, divided into 15% All India Quota administered by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) and 85% Himachal Pradesh State Quota counseling under AMRU. This front-line public sector institution at RKGMC Hamirpur boasts a highly subsidized fee structure (approximately amounting to 60,000 for first year and 50,000 for the ensuing years, respectively) and has successfully plugged huge gaps of tertiary healthcare across western Himachal Pradesh with an ultra-modern and humongous permanent campus infrastructure, having shifted out from its initial makeshift arrangements, at the same time churning out community-centered and competent medical professionals of the future.

The RKGMC Hamirpur campus is developed with a vast and recently designed academic, clinical and residential infrastructure blocks adhering to the norms of statutory NMC guidelines. These academic complexes provide fully air-conditioned and digitally furnished amphi-theater like digital lecture theaters with modern audio-visual presentation facilities, a high technology seminar hall and fully equipped most specialized diagnosis laboratories catering to the core pre-clinical and para-clinical departments like Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. The central medical library comprising of multiple floor access providing students with access to a multitude of print diagnostic, reference literature, and automated international digital electronic clinical research database access. Most securely separate on-campus residential complexes have been erected for both male and female undergraduate medical students which include study facilities, a recreational indoor room, gym set up and ultra hygienic common dining mess facility directly managed under hostel wardens.
