|Government|Established 1838Medical College, Kolkata, is one of the oldest medical colleges in Asia, situated in Kolkata, India. It was established in 1835 by the British Government, thus becoming the first medical college in India to teach Western medicine.
The college is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and is recognized by the National Medical Commission. It offers many courses, including MBBS, MD, MS, DM, and MCh, at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and super-specialty levels. Admissions to the MBBS course are done via the NEET-UG entrance exam followed by counselling.
The attached hospital offers state-of-the-art medical facilities to thousands of patients daily, thus becoming one of the busiest government hospitals in eastern India. The hospital has facilities like medicine, surgery, cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, oncology, and emergency.
