|Government|Established 2023Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (NIMSR), Kohima is the first government medical college in Nagaland and its creation will fulfill the requirements for better medical education as well as improve health services. It is situated at Phriebagei, Kohima, Nagaland and affiliated to Nagaland University. The institute is recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC).
The institute has started with an intake of 100 MBBS students every year to expand health services in the north-east. It has a modern lecture theaters, anatomy dissection hall, laboratries, digital classrooms, seminar halls, skill labs, museums in the departments and a central library in the campus.
It also has attached teaching hospital facility with services such as OPD, emergency, ICUs, pathology, radiology, operation theaters, blood banks, in patient wards etc. For practical medical exposure. Also it has boy’s and girl’s hostel and mess facility with appropriate security.
NIMSR is a developing organization which has modern infrastructure, latest medical equipment, efficient faculty. It aims to generate quality doctors for the Nagaland and the other North-Eastern states along with the upgrading health facilities.

Founded in 2023 and connected to Nagaland University, the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (NIMSR) is the first medical college in the Indian state of Nagaland. It was established to fulfill the region's healthcare needs and offer contemporary medical education, enabling Nagaland to train doctors on its own. With a yearly enrollment of 100 students, the college offers an MBBS program that includes clinical training through its affiliated hospital facilities.
