Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College, began in 2016 at Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, is looking to address the present dearth of medical professionals in lesser-developed areas. This medical college was initially affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University and now comes under Atal Medical & Research University, Mandi. The college has an annual intake capacity of 100 students in the MBBS course. The institution functions currently from the historical Akhand Chandi Palace. However, it waits for a fully dedicated campus to be completed. Even after being established, local reports indicate the challenges of delivering healthcare with patients being referred elsewhere as they lack resources in the nearby facilities.
